Day 30!

Clear Vase, Acrylic on 24x30 canvas Available $125 plus shipping

Only one more day in the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge.  Hopefully I've learned that I can produce more art and find the time if I really try.  After an all day conference for my "day job" I relaxed by doing a little more creating and painting this flower vase.  Just the right relaxation after a long day.

Day 28-Date Night

Last night was "Date Night"-highly prized at my house because my husband works every weekend. It's a commitment we've made to take a night, unplug and have some real one on one conversation.  I did not take time to paint last night.  Just enjoyed "Date Night", but they say you  need to keep your mind creative and sketch or paint everyday, so here is my scribble.  Enjoy your family time and keep on "scribbling"!

Two Birds with One Stone

I'm killing two birds with one stone today. I am participating in the "Paint and Draw Together Challenge" and the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge, so today's painting is a posting for both.

I was ready to hit the sack last night and saw that another challenge was posted, so just had to create! I started by printing out a black and white version of the photo from the "Paint and Draw Together" blog so I could interpret the image in my own color scheme and not be influenced by the colors in the photo (image 1). Then I sketched a quick composition (image 2). I felt the simplicity of the subject needed some life, so rather than a plain white cup, I selected a bold, bright palette. Using acrylics on canvas, I blocked in my scene. (image 3) and I followed that up with more detail (4th image). I paint fast and wet, so I get lots of "happy accidents" when the wet paints touch each other. Once I am pleased with the colors I let it dry and finish with an india ink marker. I think maybe I liked this one better before I added the black detail lines. What's everyone else think? These are fun challenges. I always love to be given a theme or image so I can interpret it in my own way.

Day 26-Welcome Home

I didn't get a painting done for the 25th day, but really have done pretty good for the month. I got lots of housework and bookwork done, so feel pretty good about that. I still managed to squeeze in a painting.

Day 24

Good morning!  I have a more muted (especially for me!) piece today.  It's hard to take a picture of these because of the soft, muted colors. Soft pastel on Canton Pastel paper.

It's Day 22!

Day 22 in the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. I have a small group of gals that meet every Wednesday for Art and conversation. They call themselves, "Art for Tarts". So this is what I painted last night with the group.

Ocean Breeze-Day 21

Good morning!  Day 21 was inspired by my love of the ocean.  I could sit on the beach all day, everyday and it would never be enough.  While this is not a self-portrait by any means, it captures the feeling I get just being seaside.
"Ocean Breeze", Acrylic on 18x24 Canvas

We're at Day 20 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days! Hard to believe I've been able to keep up since I work full-time. For my previous blog vistors. No surgery so far for the pooch. Still not eating or drinking, but we are optimistic that it still is something that will pass through his system and is not a blockage. Here's a small painting for Day 20. Sold. Prints available on ImageKind:

Day 19-30 Paintings in 30 Days

Here is my painting for Day 19. I've had lots of time to paint will I nurse my little "boy".
"Blue Skys" 8x10 pastel ready for framing in 11x15 mat. $55

It's Day 18!

Day 18 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. I'm keeping up, but it's been interesting. My dog has been sick. He ate something he shouldn't have (labrador/goat!) and now he's not eating or drinking. We've been nursing him per vet orders hoping he won't need surgery to clean an obstruction. We've resorted to getting fluids in him with a turkey baster! So in between playing nurse, I've had some time to paint. Today's painting is the 2nd half of the set I posted yesterday. Love these chunky canvas'!

Day 14

Got up at 5 this morning so I'd have time to get my challenge done today! Sure makes a difference when you try to paint something everyday. The background colors are actually richer than the picture shows, but hard to take a good photo at 5 in the morning! I'll try to replace it with a more accurate picture later in the day. I took a tip from Robert Burridge and plopped the flowers in with a paper towel. Fun!
"Golden Vase" 8x10 Acrylic, framed Available $65

Kay

No postings for a few days as I grapple with the sudden and unexpected loss of my sister-in-law. I never imagined that the last time I hugged you, would be the last time I ever hugged you. You left us too soon.

Winter Sky

I needed a new painting for my Living Room. This one had to come down now that the holidays are over. So here's my new one. First I tried an acrylic painting of a woodstove, but hated it, so I flipped the paper over, applied black gesso and did a pastel. Now I have to get it in a Frame! If you would like prints of this painting, I will be offering it on ImageKind. Comments welcome!
